Our care plans are tailored to each individual and are assessed regularly to ensure that they continue to fulfill residents’ needs and requirements if a resident’s care needs change. We recognise that people’s health and well-being demands change over time, therefore our care is tailored to adapt to this. We work with each resident and their family members to create a personalised care plan that is ideal for them.

Finance Questions

Care home fees can be covered in different ways depending on a resident’s circumstances. If someone has eligible care needs but limited financial resources, the local authority may pay all or part of their fees, with the amount based on their means.

Residents with complex healthcare needs may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding, which can cover the full cost of care, including accommodation and personal care. Those with sufficient income, savings, or assets may need to fund their care themselves, and in some cases, family members may choose to contribute. Fees can also be paid through a combination of these options.

If a resident faces financial difficulties, our team can help explore alternative funding options or discuss moving to a smaller suite within the home. We are here to support you and your family through any changes.

Fees under the Care Agreement will end on the date of death. Accommodation charges may apply for up to ten days afterward, covering the period until the room is cleared of personal belongings.

Top up fees occur when a care home’s charges are higher than the amount your local council will contribute. In this case, the difference can be covered by the resident or a family member, ensuring the full cost of care is met.

In Scotland, care home fees are determined based on an individual’s income and assets. The Scottish Government has a process to ensure contributions are fair and affordable.

This assessment considers income, savings, and capital, including property or investments. Depending on the outcome, some or all fees may be covered, or a contribution may be requested. Our team can provide guidance and support if you have questions about financial assistance or the assessment process.

Care fees at Cumbrae Lodge are reviewed once a year. Any changes will be communicated at least four weeks before they take effect, giving residents and their families plenty of notice. For details on the current fees or upcoming changes, our team is happy to provide further information.
