A Visit From The Marymass Marys

Residents at Cumbrae Lodge Care Home in Irvine were delighted to welcome a very special visit from the Marymass Marys as the town prepared to celebrate one of its much-loved local traditions.

The Marymass Festival is an important part of Irvine’s community calendar, bringing people together to enjoy a programme of celebrations, entertainment and traditional events. The visit from the Marymass Marys gave residents at Cumbrae Lodge the opportunity to learn more about this year’s festivities while enjoying a friendly chat with some familiar faces from the local community.

The Marymass Marys spent time with residents, talking about the festival and sharing more about the celebrations taking place across Irvine. Residents really enjoyed meeting them and hearing about the traditions surrounding Marymass, with plenty of conversation and interest throughout the visit.

The celebrations did not stop there, as some of the residents also headed into Irvine to experience Marymass for themselves. They enjoyed watching the parade and taking in the atmosphere as the town came together to celebrate. Being able to experience the festivities first-hand provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to remain connected with the community around them.

There was also the chance to enjoy a little local sporting rivalry, with residents watching the famous Marymass football derby between Irvine Meadow and Irvine Vics. It was another enjoyable part of the celebrations and gave residents the opportunity to follow an event that has become a familiar feature of Marymass in Irvine.
